Part of what makes the Microcosm stand out among a growing sea of granular and glitch pedals is the supporting cast of features Hologram Electronics includes. ![]() In essence, this is a hyper-specific type of multi-effects pedal. And each effect has four variants, bringing the total number of presets to 44 (not including the 16 user slots). The pedal has 11 different effects, divided into four categories. The Microcosm is, at its core, a granular processor, meaning that it chops up incoming audio into little bits, processes them and spits them back out. Fill-in the blanks on what you love.but three pedals in this series would get you exactly the same effects, and more, as Microcosm. This content is not available due to your privacy preferences. If I was going to setup my own Microcosm chain for synths.I personally would pick a stereo looper (Boss makes a few, or Pigtronix Infinity), followed by a granular stereo delay (Particle V2, or Tensor V2 to name two), followed by a lush verb (Specular Temups, Rooms, Bigsky). Or a bines the phrase looper with a beautiful reverb.alas also mono only. I might suggest a Blooper, because you can seriously manipulate the phrase loops, albeit its mono only. The Microcosm is really just a combination of three pedals.looper, granular delay, and reverb. To that end.putting ANY looper pedal (stereo if you want to match a Microcosm, and use with synths) in front of any granular delay pedal and reverb is going to get you there. ![]() I'll be running synths/drum macines through it.Īny other suggestions would be much appreciated.I'd say the main thing about the Microcosm is its ability to capture a phrase loop.and then manipulate that loop in various ways, whilst adding a lush reverb and time effects. So I'm wondering what other options there are out there. ![]() I've been trying to get hold of a Hologram Microcosm with very little success recently. Fairfield in general is awesome for warm sounding weirdness.Ĭritter and Guittari Organelle is a smorgasbord of digital weirdness It just ads random modulation and also contains a lpg which sounds pretty warm. Crispy crunchyįairfield Circuitry Shallow Water is pretty weird but subtle and not super flexible. Can be glassy and sweet or add some crunch and gritĭedalo FX A57 Aliaser - sample rate reduction controlled by an envelope follower. Solidgoldfx Oblivion - Great sounding flanger with 3 modes, each with their own degrade/lofi options. Can get really glitchy and digital sounding (even tho it's analog) or act like a tremelo with the freq being modulated by the envelope. Lastgasp Art Laboratories Tone Mosaique-sort of a ing mod with an envelope follower, which responds really well to synths. Can sound really fat and metallic in a good way It's a PLL/Fuzz pedal, but I dont fully understand the pll part. Industrialectric Generator- another fuzz that is kinda hard to dial in, but can be so varied that I always find a sound I like. You can set various intervals that will be "reaynthesized" (not sure of correct terminology) an octave below and an octave up from your input signal, all with independently controllable levels I'm a recovering pedal addict and really like using the weird stuff for making leads or drums more interestingīeetronics Swarm is super weird and synthy, but needs a low input to work properly, so I always use a reamp with it.
